Jeep Patriot – Kelley Blue Book’s Review

www.kbb.com
With roots tracing back to World War Two, no manufacturer is more associated with go-anywhere, do-anything off-road capability than Jeep. Now, more than 60 years after its introduction, the definition of the Jeep brand is expanding.

Unlike previous Jeeps, the Patriot is based on a front-drive, unibody compact car platform that it shares with the Jeep Compass and the Dodge Caliber. Although mechanically similar to those vehicles, the Patriot is designed to be more capable off-road than either the Caliber or Compass.

The all new Patriot plows new ground for the Jeep brand in the compact SUV category. With good fuel economy, boxy Jeep styling and a starting price under $15,000, the Patriot offers an interesting package for people looking for an affordable SUV they can take off road.

  13. got an ‘09 about 10 …
got an ‘09 about 10 months ago – finally got rid of my ‘96 Cherokee Sport with 200K miles (loved that ride but it was time to go). I’ve been nothing but happy with the Pat – the 4WD actually has better on-road traction in foul weather than the Cherokee (played in the 22″ snowstorm we had last month). Grown to like the CVT, and 24mpg average (over the Cherokee’s 17-18).

  14. This was my first …
This was my first choice but since its American I can’t trust its reliabilty so I got a Scion XB instead.

yea leave the off roading to the wrangler’s cherokee’s, commanche’s and grand cherokee’s (ZJ), otherwise ur giving jeep offroading a bad name

  18. I own a 2007 jeep …
I own a 2007 jeep patriot and since the beginning it had a noise in the front suspension. I claimed it so many times to the dealer and was never fixed. they don’t know what is the root cause of the noise, and the warranty does not apply any more because it reached 60k kilometers already. Also, if I get the engine revolutionized up to 6000 per min. the engine decelerate very slow. This car has too many “details”. I’m still wondering what can I do with the suspension before thinking in selling it

  19. in my opinion if …
in my opinion if you want a jeep to go offroad get a wrangler or a cherokee sport

  20. My dad bought this …
My dad bought this car 2 years ago, in the last 2 months it has been having problems with everything, and we maintain it really well. At the same time the value is terrible for a starting price of $16000.

  22. oh one more thing.. …
oh one more thing…that back outdoor speaker is NOT in the lower sport model….

  23. i test drive this …
i test drive this car today and it’s a great all around car. This car is no luxury…interior is mostly plastic but still nice …not as cheap as a PT Cruiser interior. If you have dogs , this car is for u. I wouldn’t go spent $20k for a upgrade model for a car like this though. You can get a used 2008 model for under 15k at carmax. This car is selling like hot cakes…JEEP can’t keep them on the lot and carmax don’t have much of them.

    Yeah I’m not saying …
Yeah I’m not saying plastics can be of high quality, but Chrysler seems to think it’s a big joke! One of the hottest pieces on the car… made of plastic?! Who’s heard of such a thing? I’m not a fanboy, but at least Toyota and Honda make them out of steel…

  25. Yeah, but one …
Yeah, but one better be careful. The person who was talking about towing a boat, if he/she has anything bigger than a aluminum bass boat, I don’t think it would be a good idea to tow it with a Patriot, towing package included or not. It is recommended that one does not tow more than 80% of the towing capability of a vehicle, and when you add some passengers to the mix, that’s less weight that you can tow.
